Sport bei Krebspatienten

Zusammenfassung

Sport und körperliche Aktivität sind wirksame Maßnahmen der Gesundheitsförderung. Ihre Rolle bei Tumorpatienten wurde jedoch lange Zeit unterschätzt. Weltweit machen Lebensumstände etwa 50–75% des Krebsrisikos aus. Bei einer wachsenden Zahl von Malignomen ist Bewegungsmangel neben Adipositas und Fehlernährung von kritischer Bedeutung. Das Bindeglied zwischen Adipositas, Bewegungsmangel und Krebs stellen die insulinartigen Wachstumsfaktoren dar, die evtl. für die Entwicklung einer endokrinen Therapieresistenz mitverantwortlich sind. Die Beeinflussung des Glukose- und Insulinstoffwechsels entwickelt sich deshalb zu einer neuen und ergänzenden Strategie gegen malignes Zellwachstum. Darüber hinaus zeigten zahlreiche Untersuchungen, dass regelmäßige körperliche Aktivität bei Tumorpatienten nicht nur zu einer Verbesserung der körperlichen Leistungsfähigkeit, sondern auch zu einer Reduktion der Nebenwirkungen der Therapie (v. a. der Fatigue), einer Stimmungsaufhellung und einer Zunahme der Lebensqualität führt.
